Sport Fishing And Ocean Fresh Seafood

by Connie Sears

Many ocean front restaurants across the globe offer some of the most delicious ocean fresh seafood known to the world. Fresh delicacies, such as crab, shrimp, scallops, fresh bass, whiting, and others can be ordered fresh every day from marina and dockside restaurants. Many of the anglers that catch fish every day also sell to grocery stores and fresh seafood markets.

Seafood is one of the best additions to any health diet. It is recommended by health professionals as a lean source of protein, with salmon and others containing omega 3 fatty acids, rarely found in other sources. These fatty acids prevent many diseases, and encourage overall health. This is one of the reasons, along with its great taste, that it is such a money making industry.

Fishing is not just for promoting good health. Open ocean and sea fishing is also a sport, and those who participate want to experience fishing in the open seas and raw nature environment. As such, many are offered this experience through dockside restaurant angler fishermen, who catch fish for the restaurant daily. Some have turned their boats into not only a fish catching enterprise, but also an adventure ship for restaurant patrons.

Trips begin in the morning and end in the afternoon. Some of the trips focus on catching bass, bluefish, tautog, and flounder. Other, separate excursions include tuna, swordfish, black bellied rose fish, and tile fish. Not all seas and oceans contain the same species of fish, therefore, trips will focus on species known to that specific water. Trips will be 15 or 20 miles away from the shore. Other deep sea trips will require 40 to 80 miles away from the coast. Fishermen can expect 70 to 120 feet of depth, and for deep sea 120-800.

The type of fishing accomplished on trips is angling, a very popular type of sport fishing. This is also done commercially, though in a slightly different way. With angling fishing a rod and bait is used. The method of fishing will depend on what species of fish is being sought. Tuna, for instance, will require a sea rod due to its larger size. Thirty to fifty pounds of line should be purchased.

Over reefs is where some excursions will take place, especially when trying to catch larger cod fish. Captains will offer advice and tips to anglers. They will also give them the chance of a lifetime to fish on the open ocean. The excursion may also include drop fishing. This allows for catching more unusual fish.

In addition to fishing trips, many marinas associated fine seafood restaurants, also offer dinner and nature cruises. Such trips offer seafood dinners and scenic cruises. Some will go out to sea, giving patrons a taste of the ocean's rare beauty, and resounding nature. Others will take patrons on a cruise of the city's coastline, as they drink fine wine and dine on some of the best food known to the world.

Rather tasting ocean fresh seafood from a restaurant, marina sunset cruiser, or from a home skillet, it continues to be a dining delicacy. Nothing is healthier or more nutritious than fish. Nothing is more pleasing than when it is freshly caught on nature's open waters.
