Once it is ready, stick it in the fridge to chill. When it's chilled enough, you'll see hard fat clumps floating on top. Remove the solidified fats using a spoon. For each tablespoon of fat that you remove from the soup, you will save roughly 100 calories.

Use a substantial amount of salt in the water when you are cooking pasta. The seasoning will soak into the pasta this way. Salting pasta after cooking will not be as effective in enhancing the flavor.

When you purchase fish and meat, buy it on the bone. You can store the bones in the freezer packed inside plastic bags. They do not have to be cooked first in order to be frozen.

It is a good idea to store unripened fruits in perforated plastic bags. As a fruit becomes ripe, it puts off ethylene gasses. When you store the fruit in a perforated bag, the ethylene gas can escape so that the natural decay process slows down. This allows your produce and fruits to stay fresh longer.

Get your grill ready to go before you start to barbecue. This should be done about 30 minutes prior to putting any food on it. The charcoals are ready to cook over once they are ash covered, and at medium heat. This is the best temperature for grilling.
