Your cookies will be less likely to spread if the dough has been allowed to cool.

Doing so will ensure you won't need to stop during cooking in order to run out to the store to purchase a missing ingredient. It does not take any longer to get everything you need together beforehand, but it saves you time and aggravation in the long run.

Leave at least some of the spices for the dinner table. Choose from a variety of spices, including garlic powder, salt, cayenne, and pepper. Individual preferences regarding the strengths of the seasonings in a dish may vary, though. Instead of including these spices during the cooking process, make them available afterwards so people can customize their meal. This way, everyone can make the dish truly theirs.

Microwave your citrus fruit before juicing it to get every last drop of juice. A quick ten seconds in the microwave is all that is needed for your lemons, oranges and other fruits. Subsequent to microwaving, roll your fruits on your counter to help extract the most juice.

The odors of many spices and vegetables will stay on your cutting board and will be impervious to soap. Make a small mark with a marker on one side of your board to remind you which side is for sweet items and which is for sour.
